According to reports, Apple and Google are collaborating to add Gemini, an AI chatbot, to the iPhone. The official announcement is expected this fall, or around September. This could coincide with the release of Apple's next iPhone generation, or the iPhone 16 series. Notably, this Google alliance will be Cupertino's second of its kind after OpenAI.

Apple and Anthropic are reportedly in talks about potential AI collaboration. Apple has long been very vocal about its rejection of Meta's approach to user privacy, which is why talks to bring MetaAI to the iPhone quickly died down.

Apple to brings Google Gemini to to iPhone

Bloomberg's Mark Gorman claims that Apple could reveal a new partner for its Apple Intelligence program in the fall of 2024, after partnering with OpenAI. If the rumors are true, Apple's new partner appears to be Google Gemini. It appears that if Apple integrates Google Gemini, iOS and macOS users will have a choice of three chatbots — Siri and ChatGPT — to choose from.

This may encourage users to use Apple Intelligence regardless of which model they prefer because they will be able to select the models they want to use rather than the ones they use. Forced to do what Apple wants them to do.

According to Mark Grumman, Anthropic has also been involved in these rumours. Grumman also indicated that, if not this fall, Apple will announce a partnership with the business at a later date. However, Meta was soon abandoned due to flaws in its llama chatbot, Mark Gurman said.

Future Planning

According to reports, Apple aims to use AI as a source of revenue rather than a collection of hardware-enhancing capabilities. Gurman speculates that the business "eventually" could launch Apple Intelligence services that are available only by subscription in light of the potential deal.

It looks like Gemini has been in chatbot rumors for iOS 18 for about as long as OpenAI. Shortly after the WWDC 2024 keynote, Apple software chief Craig Federighi also hinted at a possible Google partnership.

According to rumors, Apple may be in talks to launch a new subscription plan for Apple Intelligence that will give users access to additional capabilities. However, that doesn't seem to be the case for some time. The new premium plan is reportedly not going to happen as Apple Intelligence is now limited to the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. It's said that even when Apple stops accepting signups for its AI partners' chatbot subscriptions through in-app sales, the company will still get at least some AI revenue.
