Duplications are being made into the technological systems and well-known apps. Clone apps have been the most common ones. A duplicate version of the original applications can be downloaded from Chrome, providing additional features. Similar is the case for the alternate app of WhatsApp – GB WhatsApp.

Despite all the disadvantages it has, the exciting bunch of features are always fascinating. The original version of WhatsApp might be safe and secure but in the end, the personalization and features it offers are what attract the users. But the question arises is it safe to download? Can it be a threat to your personal information? In this article, we’ll discuss the possible dangers that come along with GB WhatsApp – the darker side.

What is GB WhatsApp?

GB WhatsApp – a fake version of the original WhatsApp is a .apk file, offering several benefits and features to the users, risking their privacy. From hiding the blue tick from others but being able to see theirs to check the online status of anyone despite them turning it off, you can invade the privacy of other users for your benefit. Moreover, accessing two WhatsApp accounts on the same device makes it a lot easier to manage your data on a single device.

GB WhatsApp has a bunch of loyal users. Till June 2024, GB Whatsapp had 59,594 successful downloads and 998.31K visits on its websites whereas in May 2024 the visits went as high as 2.16M. This shows the popularity among the users. Despite several warnings from WhatsApp, the users don’t give up this platform. It is important to think about the possible dangers that come uninvited.

Cons of GB WhatsApp

Using GB WhatsApp might seem like having a free meal with your order with all those extra features, but overeating is never good for your health. The charm of all these features might be fascinating but at what cost? At the cost of your data being at risk – not at all worth it!

No Approved License

Every app requires a license to run smoothly on devices. Any unique app has to get a license before launching it on the Google Play Store. GB WhatsApp doesn’t have a license. Even if it tries to attain a license, it won’t be provided with one as duplicate apps cannot be verified. Moreover, it has also tried to duplicate the trademark of the original WhatsApp which is a bigger drawback.

Doesn’t Support End-to-End Encryption

WhatsApp guarantees end-to-end encryption that ensures that the text you've sent to your friends and family remains between the two. Any attachment, text, or call is just between you and the beneficiary. This feature protects your data and the communication is secured. Whereas GB WhatsApp doesn't support end-to-end encryption, therefore the security of your data is also not guaranteed.

Data Privacy at Risk

GB Whatsapp is a shady market where anyone can steal your data. From your pictures to chats to contacts, everything is at stake just for the enjoyment of some additional features. People might not think initially how dangerous it could get, but an app with no privacy strategy should always be avoided.

With any leak of your data, the app is not accountable and doesn’t owe any explanation. The texts you send to a receiver are not directly to them. Rather the texts are stored in the server for data breaching that is beneficial for the app developer but not for the users. Any app that is not verified by the Google Play Store or App Store, is not secure for your use.

Unavailability on the Google Play Store

One of the biggest cons of GB WhatsApp is its unavailability on Google Play Store. The app doesn’t fulfill the standards of launching an app on the Play Store. It is available in an .apk file format and can only be downloaded through Chrome.

Make sure that any app you download from an external source doesn’t guarantee any security and your data can be misused in different forms without the app developer being accountable for it.

Risk of Getting Banned

GB WhatsApp – a duplicate or clone version of WhatsApp that is contradictory to the policy of the original WhatsApp. Last year, WhatsApp issued a warning to close the GB WhatsApp accounts or the number will be blocked. This shows the risk of using an application that itself is at risk of getting banned. How will this app prove to be beneficial for you? Think about it!

Conclusion

WhatsApp is one of the most used applications when it comes to messaging platforms. This app is the world's most used app. There are many hidden features that GB WhatsApp has to offer. Using these features can be useful but the cons it brings a lot needs to be considered. So, here the question arises; is GB WhatsApp safe to use? Well, no it is not!
